There was a time when we thought the world was flat. The discovery of its roundness freed us to travel the world. Like all discoverers, when we strive towards the unknown, we are a little unsure of what we may meet at the horizon. Rafael’s explorations free us from visual limitations and beliefs of our reality and engage us with our world as never before. Shifting worlds, changing minds…

“I gravitate towards spots which have personal relevance, but also those which are universally recognizable, with the hope to provide a new, maybe more authentic perspective. I have always been drawn to the play of multiple images, exposures and composites, which provides greater control of expression and also a larger canvas for story-telling. I hope that the technique compels the viewer to explore the intricate details of the image and to become more intimate with the subject.”
