Frozen, East Elmhurst, NY
I passed this scene near LaGuardia Airport by taxi on the late one very snowy night and wanted to go back. The final photo was achieved after three days of shooting in my ski gear in freezing temperatures after a record-breaking snowstorm. This is one of the most technical photos in the collection, as it is composed of 46 shots, each taken as a 30 second exposure. With the solid cloud cover, studio lighting is achieved which adds to the dreamy, surreal, painterly effect.
The air is charged. It feels like snow. At once human and otherworldly, the trees rise up to greet me and reach out to me benevolently, almost playfully, as I trace these footsteps and my own again, through these electromagnetic fields.
